Situated on the site of former Benedictine Abbey overlooking the town square - the Bedford has survived almost 200 years as hotel with a previous history of over 100 years as a private dwelling for the Dukes of Bedford. It is located in the ancient stannery town of Tavistock - on the edge of Dartmoor, yet, convenient to both Plymouth and Exeter.

The hotel has 29 attractively furnished bedrooms, an award winning restaurant, and large private car park.

Each of the bedrooms has a unique charm and character of its own, with tasteful furnishings, all that is necessary to provide the comfort the guests deserve. The hotel features 30 rooms, all en-suite and each with color TV, direct dial telephone, clock radio, trouser press, hairdryer, and tea and coffee making facilities. The hotel also provides cots by prior arrangement.
